The Akwa Ibom State authorities have described the Joint Motion Committee of the state college in Ikot Akpaden, Mkpat-Enin Native Authorities Space of the state’s decision to resume a strike as pointless because it has acceded to all their calls.
The state Commissioner for Schooling, Mrs Idongesit Etiebet, stated this while reacting to the decision by the JAC of the college, comprising the Non-Tutorial Employees Union of Schooling and Related Establishment, the Senior Employees Affiliation of Nigerian Universities, and the Nationwide Affiliation of Tutorial Technologists, to resume the strike.
The unions introduced plans to renew an indefinite strike from Monday. Subsequently, the federal government failed to handle their calls for a couple of months after the state governor, Umo Eno, intervened and authorised the cost of all contending points of their calls.
Talking in an interview with journalists on Tuesday, Etiebet stated such a proposed industrial motion was pointless as Eno had already directed funds instead of their calls.

Etiebet stated, “All of the monetary calls for that the JAC of NASU, SSANU and NAAT of Akwa Ibom State College offered to the governor as their cause for the sooner strike are being addressed as directed by the governor.
“These embody the cost of the 2023 depart grant, the 2023 thirteenth month wage, and approval for the cost of the palliative for 2023.
“The governor has authorised that every one of those be paid. However, remember that due course needs to be adopted so that we don’t make errors.”
The commissioner states that “authorities are within the means of constituting governing councils for all its tertiary establishments” regarding the structure of the college’s governing council.
The commissioner is famous that the method of constructing hostels for the scholars was ongoing because the state authorities had organized with a non-public agency for a Public-Non-public-Partnership mannequin to develop the latest hostel blocks within the college campus.
Mrs Etiebet puzzled why a governor who has consistently held to his guarantees to Akwa Ibom individuals throughout sectors must be threatened with a strike over a problem being sorted out.
She averred, “That ought not apply to Governor Eno. She appealed to the unions to proceed and indicate understanding because the funds steadily came to fruition.
