The Nigerian Exchange Limited – NGX has organized a symposium to boost the financial literacy of some Lagos students to mark the 2024 Global Money Week.
During the symposium, Jude Chiemeka, the Acting CEO of NGX, emphasized the importance of financial literacy, urging students to recognize it as a lifelong pursuit. He underscored the significance of making informed financial decisions to shape their future positively.
Chiemeka highlighted the relevance of Robert Kiyosaki’s quote, “Financial freedom is available to those who learn about it and work for it,” emphasizing the necessity for financial literacy in today’s dynamic economic landscape.
He stressed the importance of understanding financial risks and deploying sound financial practices to safeguard one’s future, emphasizing NGX’s role in providing resources and support for economic education.
Gbolahan Faniran, CEO of MinieMoney, urged students not to underestimate the value of financial literacy in protecting and securing their future.
Olaolu Akogun, Acting Executive Director of Junior Achievement Nigeria, expressed optimism about the opportunities offered to students through financial literacy programs.
Abimbola Babalola from NGX Regulation’s Market Surveillance department highlighted the importance of investment in protecting and growing wealth. He encouraged students to adopt an investment mindset for long-term financial security.
Chinwe Egwin, Chief Economist at Coronation Merchant Bank, educated students on economic concepts and their practical implications. He emphasized the significance of setting clear financial goals and exercising patience and self-control in investment decisions.
