The Delta State Police Command has confirmed that two individuals died during an altercation between okada riders and the state task force on Sunday evening.
It stated the unrest recorded in Delta state capital, Asaba, on Monday was a fallout of the altercation.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Vibrant Edafe, disclosed this on his X deal on Monday.
In response to Edafe, bike riders had been protesting the deadly altercation by damaging property and assaulting people, prompting the police to deploy officers to regulate the scenario.

He wrote, “There was a violent protest this morning by Okada riders who had a problem final evening with the state activity drive that led to the dying of two individuals.
“They mobilised of their numbers this morning, destroying property and beating folks. Therefore, our males had been deployed to regulate the scenario before it became one thing else.”
According to PUNCH Online, earlier reports revealed that movies circulating on social media revealed a state of chaos reported to be occurring at Okpanam Highway axis, Midwifery, in Asaba.
One of many movies revealed a scene in which policemen fired gunshots, whereas one other video confirmed a gaggle of individuals blocking the highway with bikes.
