‘Hamas is not a terrorist group.’
Griffiths instructed a consultant from Sky Information in the final month that he didn’t take into account Hamas as a terrorist group.
Requested in regards to the feasibility of Israel’s army aim to eradicate Hamas and disallow the terrorist group from having any governing say in Gaza, Griffiths responded, “Hamas will not be a terrorist group for us; as you recognize, it’s a political motion. However, it is extremely tough to dislodge these teams and not use a negotiated resolution that incorporates their aspirations.
“I can’t consider an instance offhand of a spot where a victory via warfare has succeeded in opposition to a well-entrenched group, terrorist or in any other case.”
Talking of Hamas’s October 7 assault, Griffiths stated he had a “full understanding” of the “trauma” it had prompted Israel; however, that Israel would wish to construct a relationship with its neighbours regardless.
