The All Progressives Congress in Ondo State is preparing for the forthcoming governorship, mainly in April. Chief Olusola Oke, a governorship aspirant of the social gathering, has referred to the management of the social gathering to conduct a free and truthful main.
The Impartial Nationwide Electoral Fee has fast-tracked April 2024 for the party’s primaries ahead of the forthcoming governorship main in November; however, the APC’s nationwide management is yet to fix an actual date for the party’s April main.
Oke, who spoke on Monday during his visit to the state secretariat of the social gathering in Akure, the state capital, expressed confidence that he would emerge as the candidate for the social gathering after the first.
He stated, “I’ve come right here as we speak to inform you of my intention to throw in my cap once more into the competition for the governorship seat of Ondo State on the platform of APC.
“All I’ve come here to ask for is not to ask you to descend to the world but to organise a free and truthful main. We will all go to the sphere as soon as that is accomplished, and I guarantee I will emerge. However, I’ll stay a loyal social gathering member.”
Oke can be contesting for the first social gathering alongside different aspirants who embrace Governor Fortunate Aiyedatiwa, a former Commissioner for Finance, Mr Wale Akinterinwa, a former member of the House of Representatives, Mr Mayowa Akinfolarin; a former Secretary to the State Authorities, Mrs Oladunni Odu; and a former Particular Adviser to Governor Akeredolu on Well-being, Prof Francis Faduyile.
Others include a former governorship aspirant of the APC, Chief Olusola Oke, a retired former Chairman of the Ondo State Oil-producing Areas Improvement Fee, Mr Gbenga Edema, Dr Jimoh Ibrahim, Dr Paul Akintelure and Brig. Gen. Olamide Ohunyeye (retd).

Oke, who had contested the governorship election twice with the Peoples Democratic Social gathering and the defunct Alliance for Democracy in 2012 and 2020, declared that he could serve the state if voted for.
“Ondo wants a governor who’s accustomed to the atmosphere. I’ve spent my entire life in Ondo state; I’ve never been away for six months, except in 1971, when I was in Lagos for nine months. I’ve been a part of the struggle, a part of the denial, and that’s why I might be a part of the answer to our state’s issues.
“I’ve contested this place thrice; I misplaced like Buhari, and the fourth time is my flip. Recall that we rose at an identical time in this state. Mimiko, Akeredolu and I. The three of us are from three senatorial districts. Mimiko took his flip from the central senatorial district, and Akeredolu took his flip from the north. I’m instructed and glad that the ticket is shifting to the south. Who’s flip is subsequent? It’s my flip! I’m the one who can say that; no person else can say what Oke noted.
Responding, the National Chairman of the state APC, Mr Ade Adetimehin, urged the aspirants not to treat the first as a do-or-die affair, saying all the aspirants would nonetheless come back as members of the identical social gathering after the first.
“We need to enchant you and your supporters to play the sport in a civilized manner in response to the principles. We must always not battle. Don’t be concerned with the marketing campaign of bitterness. I would like you to deal with how one can develop the state.
