The Delta State Police Command has introduced the arrest of two suspected kidnappers and four suspected cultists in separate operations.
This was disclosed in a press release by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Edafe Brilliant, on Tuesday.
The assertion partly learns, “On 31/10/2023 at about 2217hrs, the DPO Orerokpe, CSP Paul Oboware, obtained a misery name a few suspected kidnap of 1 man (title withheld) by three armed males. The abductors later contacted the household demanding 5 Million Naira ransom.
“Upon receipt of the report, the DPO swiftly mobilised and led detectives to the scene of the incident, combed all adjoining streets and bushes looking for hoodlums, to rescue the sufferer probably.

“The sufferer was later launched after an undisclosed ransom was paid.”
The assertion added that the DPO continued investigations on the incident, which paid off on March 5, 2024, when one Peter Idogor (24) and Emmanuel Sunday (19) from Evwreni Neighborhood were apprehended via a technology-aided investigation as a seek for the remaining gang members is ongoing.
The suspects had been additionally mentioned to have been recognized by the sufferer.
Based on the assertion, in another operation on March 6, 2024, while responding to a tip about a cult exercise, the CP-DECOY Squad raided a resort close to Asaba’s Federal School Junction.

“Following the arrest of those suspects, a radical search was performed, and two Barretta Pistols with two rounds of Stay Ammunition, a domestically made cut-to-size gun with one dwell cartridge, had been recovered from the ceiling.
“Manhunt for the opposite fleeing members of the gang is ongoing.”
Reacting to the arrests, the state’s Police Commissioner, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, instructed officers of the command to spare no effort in bringing criminals to account for their actions, warning that participating in any form of felony action within the state has dire penalties.
The PUNCH reported in January that the Anambra State Police Command arrested about 30 suspects, together with kidnappers, armed robbers, cultists, and hoodlums who’ve been terrorising the state on current occasions.
