The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) is appealing a court ruling restricting operations to federal roads and limiting officials to state and local government roads.
Corps Marshal Dauda Ali Biu criticised the ruling, stating personnel would not be able to attend or rescue crash victims on other roads. Biu plans to seek a stay of execution and appeal the case involving The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and Darlington Ugo Ehikim.
According to the Corps Marshal, they have received a briefing from their Legal Representatives regarding the judgement passed by the Court of Appeal Asaba Judicial Division and are fully aware of its implications. At this point in time, we have not yet been able to obtain a Certified True Copy of the judgement; however, we are still working on it.
Our immediate plan is to acquire the same and then take the necessary time to carefully scrutinise the judgement before coming to a decision. We are closely monitoring the situation, and until further notice, we urge the public to remain calm.
