Adebayo Adelabu, the Minister of Energy, has called for a pressing assembly with key stakeholders within the energy sector. The minister’s name is in response to the decline in electrical energy supply throughout Nigeria.
Summoning the chief executives of Abuja Electrical Energy Distribution Firm and Ibadan Electrical Energy Distribution Firm, alongside the Managing Director of the Transmission Firm of Nigeria (TCN), the Minister goals to handle the urgent subject and search for lasting options.
Expressing deep concern over the worsening energy provided in a launch made on X (Twitter), the Minister emphasised the Ministry’s efforts to enhance the scenario.
Despite the latest increase in energy technology to over 4000MW, certain distribution firms are failing to successfully distribute the ability equipped by TCN. Furthermore, vandalism of energy infrastructure in areas such as Abuja, Benin, Port Harcourt, and Ibadan exacerbates the issue.
“Shifting ahead, I’m dedicated to holding all distribution firms accountable for his or her efficiency. Willful non-performance will not be tolerated, and extreme penalties, along with license revocation, could also be imposed.
“Moreover, I’ve instructed TCN to prioritise restoration works on broken transmission towers and energy strains to enhance provide in affected areas.
“Throughout the latest supervisory visits to power-generating vegetation, I’ve witnessed firsthand the challenges confronted by the sector,” he added.
In response to the minister, plans are underway to settle outstanding debts to energy technology and gasoline supply firms, which can alleviate the monetary pressure and contribute to improved technology ranges nationwide.
“I urge electrical energy shoppers to stay affected as we work tirelessly to handle these points and supply higher service to all Nigerians,” he stated.
