In a recent and devastating incident, suspected bandits launched an attack on Kukar Babangida village in the Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State on Thursday, resulting in the tragic death of 10 individuals and leaving several others injured. Among the victims were the Village Head of Kukar Babangida, Zauren Katsina, and his four biological children.
Residents recounted the horrifying event, indicating that the bandits struck the village around 1:30 am on Thursday, taking advantage of the early hours when most residents were sound asleep. Kukar Babangida, with a population of approximately 6,000, primarily comprising farmers and herders, has been grappling with the persistent threat of bandit activities.
This attack adds to the recent incidents in the Jibia Local Government Council, where two bandit attacks were reported within the week. The first occurred along the Jibia-Batsari axis, and the second took place within Jibia town itself, resulting in loss of lives.
Despite the severity of the situation, the Katsina State Police Command has yet to issue a response. Numerous attempts to contact the Command’s Spokesman, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, were unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.
The assault on Kukar Babangida underscores the ongoing challenges posed by banditry in the region, demanding urgent attention and effective security measures.
