On Sunday, April 23rd, the Kano State Fire Service declared five fatalities and six survivors from a boat disaster at Kanwa Dam in the Madobi Local Government Area.
Five people have died and six have survived a boat accident at Kanwa Dam in Madobi Local Government Area of Kano State, according to the state’s Fire Service.
Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, Kano State Fire Service Public Relations Officer, said the incident was reported by Umar Faruk-Dalada, who provided information on the situation and location of the accident. “He stated the incident took place on April 22 at 5:40 p.m., and the investigation is still ongoing to ascertain more information about the accident.” Upon completion, the reports will be made available without delay.
Eleven (11) people were on board the boat when the accident happened. Based on the report provided by our correspondent, six (6) people were rescued alive and five (5) were rescued unconscious. The deceased are Abdulrazak Nabara, Dalha Muktar-Atamma, Mustapha Ibrahim, Umar Isah, and Umar Idris.
This is coming after a boat mishap also happened in Bayelsa, Nigeria, which recorded five (5) deaths. Governor Douye Diri expresses sadness over the accident that happened in his state. In his press statement, he said, “The boat was overloaded and sank while carrying passengers and goods.
