Abia State Governor Bans the Popular Motorcycle “Okada”

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has imposed a ban on commercial motorcyclists, known as okada, within the Umuahia and Aba metropolises.
Starting August 14, 2023, any motorcycle used for such purposes will be impounded by security agencies. Individuals caught violating the order will be arrested for possible prosecution. The directive takes immediate effect.
Abia State Governor Alex Otti has pledged to rebuild Aba, the commercial city of the state, despite challenges. During an inspection tour of an ongoing road project in Aba, Otti expressed his satisfaction with the progress of work despite the rain and expressed gratitude for the support given to workers.
The governor and his team inspected several roads, including Cemetery Road, University Road, Green Avenue, Shallom Road, and Cemetry Road, before concluding at Emelogu Road. Currently, nine roads in Aba are under partial and comprehensive rehabilitation.
