THE Abia State Police Command, in collaboration with Native Authorities Space authorities, has inspected unstable spots within the state, to boost safety throughout the state.
The command, via its Divisional Police Officers, inspected unstable spots inside their areas of operations.
As a part of the excellent crime-prevention technique, the state Commissioner of Police, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, accompanied by the Mayor, Umuahia North Native Authorities, Victor Ikeji, on Wednesday, personally undertook essential assessments of some areas.
The mayor stated the shanties, serving as legal hideouts, can be demolished whereas the federal government would construct a motor park and market on the land.
In line with the mayor, demolishing the shanties would even have optimistic safety implications as it might displace criminals and drug peddlers across the metropolis centre.
In the course of the train, the staff targeted on areas recognized to be hotbeds of legal actions and drug peddling within the Umuahia North Native Authorities Space.
Among the spots visited had been the bicycle restore workshop behind Okigwe Park in Umuahia and the previous Ohuhu Motor Park, all in Abia, amongst others.
