Lagos State Government memo reveals the secret mass burial of 103 EndSARS victims, Nigerian Senior Advocate Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa warns.
A senior lawyer from the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry on Restitution for Victims of SARS-Related Abuses, Adegboruwa, stated that the leaked memo from the Ministry of Health of Lagos State is a surprise that people will still see in the coming years.
Adegboruwa emphasised that Nigerians are aware of the fatalities in the October 20th, 2020, protests against police brutality and extrajudicial killings. A human rights lawyer warns against blanketly claiming no fatalities or blood spills due to Nigerian Army gunshots, as it disservices affected individuals and their souls.
A leaked memo to the Lagos State Ministry of Health shows the government approved N61, 285,000 for the mass burial of 103 2020 EndSARS victims, sparking outrage. The Lagos State Ministry of Health confirmed a memo on July 19, 2023, detailing steps for processing funds after Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s approval.
They emphasised that the bodies were picked up by the Lagos State Environmental Health Unit (SEHMU) from various areas, not the Lekki toll gate.
