Salihu Lukman resigns as APC North-West Vice-Chairman, leaving the party’s National Working Committee.
Lukman resigned from the APC leadership in a letter to Abubakar Kyari, stating he chose not to be a distraction for President Bola Tinubu’s new administration.
Lukman has resigned from the APC due to the party’s atmosphere being in conflict with its founding vision of forming a progressive party. He argues that he should take time off politics and not remain in leadership, especially for President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s young government. However, he remains a member and urges APC leaders to retract their illegal actions.
Lukman believes he has no other option but to leave the party. He retains his party membership in hopes that leaders, particularly President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will retract from unjust and illegal acts, which are crucial for democratic and progressive Nigerians.
They express gratitude to Mallam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai for nominating them for leadership positions. Lukman resigned amid a crisis, following Abdullahi Adamu and Iyiola Omisore’s resignations as National Chairman and National Secretary, respectively.
