The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has requested that security agencies clear former Governor of Kaduna State Nasir El-Rufai for ministerial nomination.
The youths warn that their patience will be tested if El-Rufai’s nomination is not confirmed. The forum’s president, Yerima Shettima, expressed humiliation at the news that El-Rufai was among the only three confirmed ministers out of 48.
The targeting of Nasir El-Rufai for irreverent treatment is part of a wider agenda to deny fair representation for the younger generation of Nigerians in the coming cabinet. El-Rufai is considered one of the best names submitted by the President and should not be confirmed without justifiable reasons.
The Senate’s deceptiveness in not confirming El-Rufai is due to the ministerial nomination list’s security scrutiny before it reaches the Senate.
El-Rufai, Musawa, Matawalle, and Keyamo are the best representations of Nigeria’s young generation. Shettima believes it would be an unwarranted provocation to Kaduna State, the North, and Nigerian youth if El-Rufai is confirmed for flimsy considerations.
