An attack on a Pakistan naval airbase resulted in the death of at least one paramilitary soldier, with security forces eliminating all five assailants in retaliatory action, officials reported on Tuesday.
The incident, which occurred on Monday at the Turbat base in southwestern Pakistan, marked the second attack on a military facility by ethnic Baloch individuals within the past week.
“We narrowly averted a significant tragedy,” stated a statement from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s office.
According to a Pakistan Navy spokesperson, all five attackers were neutralized as they attempted to breach the base’s defences.

The Baloch Liberation Military (BLA), essentially the most distinguished of several separatist teams in Balochistan, claimed accountability for the assault in an announcement.
Earlier assaults completed by the BLA.
The BLA has previously been implicated in attacks targeting both Pakistani and Chinese interests in the region and elsewhere.
China has made substantial investments in the mineral-rich southwestern province of Balochistan, situated on the border with Afghanistan and Iran. These investments include the development of the port of Gwadar despite facing a long-standing separatist insurgency.
The naval base holds strategic importance for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, which encompasses various infrastructure projects such as roads and energy initiatives and forms a crucial part of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s Belt and Road Initiative.
Last week, Pakistani security forces successfully repelled an attack involving gunfire and explosives by the BLA on a compound outside Gwadar. In the confrontation, two soldiers and all eight assailants were killed.
