Atedo Peterside, founder of Stanbic IBTC and Anap Foundation, has defended the “All Eyes on the Judiciary” slogan in Nigeria, arguing it should not offend right-thinking individuals.
The phrase gained popularity in recent months during the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal, where Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi are challenging President Bola Tinubu’s victory.
Peterside, who took to X, formerly Twitter, to justify the phrase, argued that it should not offend a right-thinking and sincere person in a civilised society. He also acknowledged that someone rejecting a negative slogan like “Let us turn our noses up at the Judiciary” would be understandable.
Peterside’s argument comes after the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) dissolved its Advertising Standards Panel over billboards.
ARCON’s Director General, Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, stated that the exposed concepts were not approved by the panel and directed all materials to be removed and violators sanctioned.
The panel also erred in the approval of one concept, as the advertisement failed vetting guidelines.
