Former Nigerian Bar Association President Okey Wali has been released from his kidnapping after two weeks in captivity. He was taken by armed men in military clothing in Obiri-Kwere, Rivers State.
Foxiz’s Daily NG correspondent was informed on Monday by Viktor Benibo, Chairman of the NBA Port Harcourt Branch that Wali had been released and was now at his home. He was eventually released from his confinement in the wee hours of the morning today.
Initially, the former Nigerian Bar Association President Okey Wali, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, was missing four days after being kidnapped by unknown individuals in Port Harcourt. He was taken on Monday at the Obiri Ikwerre Flyover while his convoy was hijacked, resulting in the death of one of his aides.

Two policemen were injured while chasing kidnappers after the former NBA President, and the Conscience of Ogoni People (COP) urges the Inspector General of Police and the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State to facilitate the lawyer’s safe release. COP leader Chief Gani Topba said Wali has contributed greatly to the growth and development of Rivers State and Nigeria. The statement notes that Wali served in several capacities and was once president of the Nigerian Bar Association. Okey Wali, SAN, was abducted on Monday, April 17, 2023, along the East-West Road in Obio Akpor LGA, Rivers State.
