He said the All Progressive Congress (APC) fought hard and still obeyed the law and respected the Constitution’s dignity. We’re civilized, distinguishing our wins from losses. We follow the law & respect the constitution’s dignity. “I congratulate Governor Fintiri on his victory in the supplementary election.”
Congrats on your re-election, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri. Thanks to Adamawa citizens and supporters for resisting anti-democratic forces. Lesson learned: Nigerians must stay vigilant against anti-democratic forces who seek to undermine their mandate. We still have one more mandate to reclaim, but together we can achieve it for the good of our country and people says former vice president and presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
The Build-up to the emergence.
March 20th, saw the governorship election in Adamawa State being declared inconclusive by The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) state collation officer, Professor Muhammadu Mele, due to a narrow margin of votes.
The All Progressive Congress (APC), Senator Aishatu ‘Binani’ Dahiru received 390,275 votes, while Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Governor Ahmadu Fintiri received 421,524 votes, according to the figures announced. Professor Muhammadu Mele announced that elections had not taken place in 47 wards, which affected 69 polling stations. That gives us a margin of 31,249. In places where elections have not been held, the total number of PVCs collected is 37,016.
To conclude the March 18 Governor’s election, a supplementary election was held. This supplementary election was marred with different flaws, accusations and counter-accusation from both the ruling party and opposition parties. 16th April, the candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Aisha Dahiru Binani, was declared the winner of the Adamawa State Governorship election by the resident electoral commissioner, Hudu Yunusa. After the declaration by Hudu Yunusa, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) chairman declared the supplementary election invalid with no effect. In addition, INEC summoned the resident electoral commissioner, Hudu Yunusa and other officials involved in the declaration of All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Aisha Dahiru Binani’s victory to the headquarter of the Commission.

Ahmadu Fintiri, candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) won 9,337 votes in last Saturday’s election reruns as well as Senator Umaru B.Binani Dahiru from All Progressives Congress (APC) received 6,513 votes. At the end of the entire exercise, Fintiri polled 430,861 votes, defeating Binani who got 398,738 votes. Political intrigue preceded the announcement of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, at 5:49 p.m., on Tuesday.

INEC’s approach to the Adamawa State election, with a preplanned agenda to declare the APC at all costs, is not in doubt.
The People’s Democratic Party has urged the people of Adamawa, Nigeria and the international community to ignore All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Aisha Dahiru Binani claims as the governor-elect. The state’s Social Democratic Party (SDP) gubernatorial candidate, Dr Umar Ardo, described the electoral process as a “naked dance of market shame”. He urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to disqualify the PDP and APC candidates, cancel the election, and hold a fresh one for the other qualified candidates.
