The Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Operations Unit, Zone A in Ikeja, Lagos, disclosed that it intercepted three vans loaded with 1,464 baggage of foodstuffs heading to the Republic of Benin.
Addressing journalists on the command on Friday, the Customs Space Controller accountable for the command, Hussein Ejibunu, stated the consignments, containing 880 baggage of white beans, 584 baggage of onions, and 18 baggage of dry pepper, have been intercepted at Ajilete/Idiroko Street in Ogun State.
Ejibunu added that the intercepted items have been bought to Nigerians.
President Bola Tinubu had final month ordered the Nationwide Safety Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, the Inspector-Normal of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Director-Normal of the Division of State Companies, Yusuf Bichi, to collaborate with state governors and go after these hoarding foodstuff.
