When Mr Onyekachukwu Ike, the lawmaker-elect for Nnewi North constituency, was arrested by the operatives and forced into the trunk of a car, a great disturbance occurred. It was only after they had been stopped that the vehicle took off.
It was happening during a valedictory service of thanksgiving for the Seventh Assembly, which continued to take place in the assembly hall. A witness told Foxiz Nigeria that the security officers at the entrance of the house when they noticed, closed the gate and blocked the operatives from entering with the lawmaker-elect. The lawmaker-elect was arrested after attending a Thanksgiving service for the seventh assembly. The Deputy Governor and outgoing Speaker quickly intervened and released him.
