The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) is pushing for palliative care and threatened a strike after talks broke down.
Peter Esele, former Trade Union Congress (TUC) President, claims the Federal Government hasn’t stopped organised labour from striking and protesting over fuel subsidy removal.
Peter Esele believes the government hasn’t addressed their demands and criticised the government’s inaction in addressing labour demands, stating that it is difficult for Ajaero to back out of the ultimatum. He also criticised the government’s decision to invest in CNG.
He argued that organised labour would be up against the leadership, making the government’s actions insufficient. The meeting was intended to discuss palliatives to cushion the impact of subsidy removal in the country.
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) president, Joe Ajaero, led a labour team that evaded journalists during their meeting.
