The allegation that Dr. Kayode Fayemi is being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission in relation to an alleged N4 billion fraud has been disproved by the immediate past governor of Ekiti State, who served as chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum.
During his visit to the EFCC, Fayemi, according to a statement from the Head of the Fayemi Media Office, Abuja, Mallam Ahmad Sajoh, indicated that no such allegation was raised in his conversation with officials of the anti-graft agency.

Fayemi denied responding to a baseless petition meant to tarnish his reputation during his conversation with EFCC officials in Ilorin, Kwara State, as stated in the media reports. Dr Fayemi was invited by the EFCC regarding a money laundering petition during preparations for the change of government. Dr. Fayemi was a vital member of the APC and had important commitments that would have been affected if he didn’t show up. He let the EFCC know he was willing to cooperate but asked for a different date due to his prior engagements. “Fayemi, accompanied by his lawyer, visited the EFCC office in Ilorin on Thursday. After fruitful discussions with investigators, he was allowed to depart in a few hours.”
“We believe Dr. Fayemi’s visit answered the agency’s petition. If more clarification is required, he’s willing to cooperate.” Contrary to rumours of an N4B fraud case against Dr. Fayemi, no such allegation was made in his conversation with the EFCC. He responded to a frivolous petition from the Ekiti Patriotic Coalition, which we believe is a front for anti-Fayemi politicians trying to tarnish his image. Fayemi served Ekiti State with dedication and principled leadership, driving infrastructure advancements and investment opportunities. The statement affirmed Dr. Fayemi’s integrity and expressed trust that the truth would prevail.
