SkillPaddy, a leading platform focused on enhancing productivity and facilitating easier access to tech skills training, has introduced the Count-Her-In Tech program. The program aims to train over 1,000 female software engineers to advance gender equality.
According to the organizers, the program aims to provide internship opportunities, catalyze change, and establish pathways for women to excel in the digital landscape.
Adaobi Onyedum, the firm’s Head of Product Marketing, addressed the launch event on Thursday. He emphasized the urgency of bridging the gender gap in tech, stating, “The lack of gender diversity stifles innovation and limits the potential of the tech industry. At SkillPaddy, we are committed to breaking down barriers and creating a more inclusive ecosystem where everyone, regardless of gender, has the opportunity to thrive.”
Meanwhile, Ope Adetomiwa, the Chief Marketing Officer, highlighted, “This Program was conceived from our vision to foster transformation in the tech ecosystem and our steadfast commitment to gender equality and empowerment. By empowering female engineers, we promote individual success and drive collective progress towards a more equitable tech landscape. When you empower a woman, you empower a generation!”
In her remarks, Mrs. Tomi Somefun, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Unity Bank Plc, expressed excitement about participating in the initiative. She said, “Through this program, we are not only investing in the future of these talented women but also fostering innovation and diversity within the tech industry. By offering access to skills training and mentorship, we aim to unlock opportunities and create a more inclusive and thriving digital economy for all.”
Since the call for applications was launched, SkillPaddy has received an overwhelming response from thousands of women across Nigeria, reaffirming the significant need and the enthusiasm of young women to pursue careers in technology.
