The Lagos State Government has issued a flood alert to residents in certain areas of the state; such as Ojo, Ikoyi, Badagry and Eti-Osa urging them to be wary of heavy rainfall between August 14 and 18.
The warning is based on a flood alert advisory issued by the Flood Emergency Warning System (FEWS) Central Hub of the Federal Ministry of the Environment.
The state has also urged residents of flood plains and low-lying areas to be prepared to move upland until the cessation of the rains.
The warning is necessary to avoid preventable loss of lives and properties that usually accompany such incidents.
The Permanent Secretary, Office of Drainage Services and Water Resources, Lekan Shodeinde, signed the statement on Tuesday.
