During a meeting with officials from southern Israeli towns, he delivered a stern message, saying, “What Hamas will face will be harsh and terrible. We are merely commencing,” Netanyahu declared, while also issuing a call for the opposition to unite in forming an emergency government. According to the latest figures from Israeli authorities, the Hamas attacks on Saturday resulted in the tragic loss of at least 900 Israeli lives and left 2,600 people wounded, marking the deadliest civilian tragedy in the country’s history. Official data shows that over 4,500 rockets have been fired at Israel in the aftermath of these attacks.
Conversely, the relentless Israeli airstrikes on densely populated Gaza have claimed the lives of at least 687 people, leaving more than 3,800 injured, according to the health ministry in Gaza.
In a disturbing development, Hamas militants took approximately 150 people, including women, children, and the elderly, captive and transported them back to Gaza. It is believed that citizens from various other countries are also among those held captive.
