A witness of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Agboro Omowera, on Monday, advised a Federal Capital Territory Excessive Courtroom in Maitama that ten officers of the Central Financial institution of Nigeria, together with the previous CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, minuted on the paperwork for the award of multi-million contracts to April 1616 and Architekon Nigeria Restricted.
The EFCC accused Emefiele of utilizing his place to confer a corrupt benefit on his spouse, Margret, and brother-in-law by approving the cost of the overall sum of N97.9m in favour of Architekon Nigeria Ltd, the place of each an administrator.
Based on the anti-graft company, the N97.9m contract provided workplace furnishings to the CBN.
The investigator, who is the seventh prosecution witness, was cross-examined by the defendant’s counsel, Mathew Burkaa(SAN). He said that ten individuals acted on the paperwork with which the contracts were awarded.

He added that the buck stopped at Emefiele’s desk, being the CBN governor at the time.
He stated, “Ten individuals acted on the paperwork awarding these contracts.
“There are 10 minutes and one approval, so one person takes the accountability.
“He (Emefiele) is at the top of the CBN, and the buck stops at his desk.”
When Burkaa asked the witness if Emefiele had conferred a corrupt benefit on himself, he stated, “No. I stated no because we restricted our investigation to his relations and associates and never him.”
Earlier, Omowera, being led in proof by the counsel for the EFCC, Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN), advised the courtroom that the findings of his investigations confirmed that Emefiele conferred a corrupt and unfair benefit on Architekon Nigeria Restricted and April 1616.
Based on him, Emefiele’s spouse, Margaret Omoyile, is listed as a director of Archtekon Nigeria Restricted.
He added that Emefiele’s spouse used her maiden identity to register the corporation.
Omowera stated an employee of the CBN,
Sa`adatu Yaro was additionally listed as a director of April 1616 Funding Ltd.
Based on him, the corporation was awarded several contracts for providing over 45 Toyota Hilux automobiles, starting from N854,700,000 to N99,900,000.
He added that his investigative crew, comprising different companies and the Division of State Providers, revealed that Yaro’s husband had different corporations; however, they weren’t patronised by the CBN besides the one during which the spouse was a director.
Omowera stated, “Within the second firm, April 1616 Funding Restricted, we also found that one of many firm administrators by identity, Sahadatu Ramalan Yaro, was a director of April 1616 Funding.
“We found that the corporate was included several days after her employment with the CBN, and she or he was posted to the CBN Lagos workplace.
“In 2018, the corporation began to benefit from CBN’s patronage in procuring explicit automobiles, such as Toyota-branded motors.
“During the interval that the defendant was, this firm was awarded about 45 different contracts.
“My Lord, we have been curious as investigators how it was attainable for a corporation with no observed report to win bids repeatedly against Toyota-accredited bids.
“We tried to substantiate whether or not Toyota accredited this firm, but to our shock, it was not among the many accredited bidders.”
The trial judge, Hamza Muazu, subsequently adjourned the matter until April 25 to continue the trial.
