Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi revealed how his family conspired against him during the presidential election, claiming he was unaware they voted for Labour Party candidate Peter Obi. The South-East Governors Forum chairman said on TV that Nigerians voted for the Labour Party due to hardship, not because of presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
The governor purported that he was surprised that President Buhari and “president-elect” Bola Tinubu lost their states during the election. He noted that protest votes were a factor and expressed that his state, Ebonyi, did not allow the Labour Party to win anything, as their political framework was designed to prevent any other party from winning, even in local council elections.
I viewed the Labour Party vote as a protest against The All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). It was shocking as even my own family seemed to conspire against me. “They voted for Peter Obi in one election and for APC in another because of the state’s developments. It wasn’t solely for Peter Obi.” “Despite challenges in Nigeria,” he claimed.
