The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) alleges that JAMB violated Mmesoma’s rights. HARIWA, in an interview, criticized JAMB for discrimination and rights violations in mishandling Miss Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma’s forged result issue.
HURIWA demanded an investigation. Ishaq Oloyede-led management accused the 16-year-old Anambra indigene of fraudulently manipulating her UTME result for a scholarship. HURIWA condemns the statement, leading to an unjust condemnation of the innocent girl with the highest score in the JAMB examination. The body noted that JAMB has failed to provide key details such as how the alleged manipulation occurred, when it happened, the involvement of individuals or groups, and the specific app or software used for hacking JAMB’s database or server.

JAMB boss, Prof. Oloyede, stated the investigation was concluded. He claimed that Nmesoma was not the only candidate caught falsifying results, stating that JAMB had completed the investigation. Currently, industry fake results are circulating, but they can’t infiltrate JAMB as our system is foolproof, and we’re ready to prove it.
Ejikeme and her collaborators were found to have collaborated in altering her scores and possessing personal knowledge of certain features. The organisation confirmed the falseness of the result, stating that Mmesoma forged a candidate’s UTME result slip, Asimiyu Mariam Omobolanle, who scored 138. The candidate’s statement revealed the true owner of the result, and the Board encourages the public to scan the QR code on the result slip to verify the truth. The Board no longer issues Notification of Result Slips after the 2021 UTME due to candidates falsifying them.
The 2023 UTME election results show that Miss Ejikeme Mmesoma is the only candidate to use the outdated ‘Notification of Result’. Nigerians are reminded of previous cases where the Board was sued for billions of naira, only for lawyers to apologise. The case has been handed over to relevant security agencies for a thorough investigation. The board is open to public scrutiny and is ready for an open session with the candidate, parents, and legal team.
