The Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has authorized the promotion of 10,581 deserving junior officers from the Nigeria police force, Inspectorate cadre and the rank and file.
This development was disclosed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement released on Friday.
Adejobi stated, “The Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has given the green light to promote 10,581 deserving junior officers from the inspectorate cadre and the rank and file. In line with this directive, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police overseeing the Department of Finance and Administration has been tasked with coordinating efforts alongside the Commissioner of Police (Welfare) to initiate the promotion process promptly.”
“The breakdown of promotions includes 9,831 police constables slated to be promoted to corporal, 81 corporals to advance to sergeant, and 669 officers set to progress from sergeants to inspectors.”
Emphasizing the force leadership’s commitment to promoting a culture of meritocracy and career advancement, the IG reiterated the significance of timely promotions in boosting officers’ morale and enhancing the force’s overall effectiveness.
He underscored that timely promotions are crucial in sustaining the Nigeria Police Force’s ongoing manpower development initiatives and assured that promotions will be based solely on merit.
The Nigeria Police Force congratulated all officers slated for promotion and urged them to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and service to the nation.
