The Acting IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, has condemned the recent incident where police ran over a citizen in Ekpoma, Edo State. He has ordered the erring policemen to report to the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Monday for further action.
A statement on Friday by the FPRO, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, urged the public, especially those in Ekpoma, to remain calm as the current police leadership will not tolerate such unprofessional and illegal behaviour. Our correspondent reported that Adejobi expressed his disbelief and called for immediate action by the force.

Disturbing video shows a handcuffed man crushed by police in a minibus in Ekpoma, Edo State. The victim was seen on the floor in front of the patrol car. Area residents were discussing with the police when, unexpectedly, the driver of a car drove it forward and ran over the helpless man, with one of the tyres rolling over him. After residents shouted that the victim was underneath the car, the driver eventually stopped the vehicle.
Adejobi commented that it was unbelievable for someone to crush another person with a vehicle, especially if they were a law enforcement officer. He described it as “unpoliced.” Crushing a man with a car? Unbelievable for any normal person. I’ve contacted the Commissioner of Police in Edo State about this. Urgent action is needed. It’s odd to me as a person.
