Japan issued an evacuation advisory for the coastal areas near the southern prefecture of Okinawa after a robust earthquake triggered a tsunami warning.
According to the Japan Meteorological Company, a tsunami of as much as 3 meters was anticipated on Japan’s southwestern coast around 10 a.m. (0100 GMT). The warning came after an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of seven.5 struck within the ocean close to Taiwan.
Earthquakes are frequent in Japan, one of the world’s most seismically lively areas. Japan accounts for about one-fifth of the world’s six or more significant earthquakes.

On March 11, 2011, the northeast coast was struck by a magnitude nine earthquake, the strongest quake in Japan on record, and an enormous tsunami. These events triggered the world’s worst nuclear disaster since Chornobyl one century earlier.
Earthquake in Taiwan
The Taiwan Central Climate Administration mentioned an earthquake with a magnitude of seven.2 hit Taipei, the capital of Taiwan, on Wednesday morning.
According to a Reuters witness, the sturdy quake knocked out energy in several components of the town.
