The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja, has urged Nigerian Army troops to continue defending the country and recovering the space occupied by terrorists and bandits.
The COAS visited troops in Niger State after an ambush by insurgents in the Zungeru general area, where some troops paid the ultimate price. A Nigerian Air Force MI-171 helicopter crashed in the Shiroro Local Government Area.
The COAS urged the troops to rally together and be more resolute in bringing the nation’s adversaries to their knees and restoring sanity in troubled areas.
Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Army spokesman, stated that the fight against insurgents and bandits is a just cause for the defense of Nigerians and the nation.
He emphasized the noble service of protecting lives and defending the nation, and urged the troops to not let their morale dwindle.
Lagbaja assured the troops that he would do all within available resources to provide the best welfare for Nigerian Army personnel and their families, stating this is topmost in his Command Philosophy.
