The APC’s NEC elected Abdullahi Ganduje as the National Chairman and Ajibola Basiru as the National Secretary.
The party officials were elected today at the 12th NEC meeting held in Abuja. Ganduje thanked the President and vowed to uphold internal democracy in the party. The ex-Kano governor promised a scientific party member register and a focus on election management and conflict resolution.
He promised equal opportunities in party primaries and to ensure victory in upcoming governorship elections across the country. Present at the NEC meeting were President Bola Tinubu, VP Kashim Shettima, party members in the National Assembly, and others.
The President stated that APC’s victory in the elections means it’s time to fulfil the promises of good governance to Nigeria. He claims the 2023 elections were Nigeria’s best, with ex-President Buhari and former Vice President Osinbajo absent from the NEC meeting.
The party’s first National Chairman, Bisi Akande, was present at the NEC meeting following Wednesday’s national caucus session. In mid-July, two NWC members resigned: Senator Abdullahi Adamu as National Chairman and Senator Iyiola Omisore as National Secretary.
