The Kano State Police Commissioner, Hussaini Gumel, has directed Operational Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to intensify patrols around all the first, secondary, and tertiary colleges and establishments within the state.
A press release by the Command’s Public Relations, SP Abdullahi Haruna, on Wednesday confirms this.
He mentioned the measure was in keeping with the directives of the Inspector-Common of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, on making sure the protection of faculties below the Protected Faculties Initiative.
Haruna mentioned the directive aimed to better the safety of lives and property, most notably the protection of faculties and college students.
“The measure aims to ensure the protection and safety of scholars, lecturers, and workers and to spice up the general instructional sector within the state.
“Accelerating the presence of police personnel in these areas will further deter legal actions and supply a safe setting conducive to studying and instructing.”
He urged members of the general public, including college directors, lecturers, dads and moms, and college students, to cooperate with the Police and different safety companies and report any suspicious actions for immediate action.
While thanking the people of the state for their help, cooperation, and understanding, the commissioner urged them to continue reporting any suspicious movement of individuals or gadgets to the closest Police station.
