Tinubu met with Nigeria’s National Assembly members of all parties, denying reports that the president appealed to abide by the party’s zoning arrangement for selecting Senate and House of Representatives leaders. APC zoning: Sen. Godswill Akpabio and Sen. Barau for Senate leadership; Hon. Abbas and Kalu for House leadership. Lawmakers denied reports that the president endorsed specific candidates for Senate and House leadership positions. The President reiterated that lawmakers should prioritize the country over party politics and work together as a united front during a closed-door meeting with aspirants. He said lawmakers were advised to collaborate in selecting suitable leaders for the 10th National Assembly.
