The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has set revised primary election dates ahead of the state’s upcoming local government poll.
According to the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), the local government election would be held in April of next year.
The APC made a minor change to the primary calendar for all chairmanship and councilorship candidates on Wednesday.
The party said in a statement released on Wednesday that the primary was essential due to several indications of interest.
The party’s Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, stated in a statement made available to DAILY POST that the primary, which was originally planned for this Thursday, will now be place on Friday (August 25) and Monday (August 28).
“The party primary schedule has now been divided into two parts, and we have chosen this Friday to conduct the exercise in all the Wards and LGAs in both Oyo Central and Oyo North Senatorial districts, while the turn of the 99 Wards and nine local government councils in Oyo South will be Monday next week.”
“Reports submitted by screening committees established that we have competent aspirants in all 351 Wards and 33 LGAs; this indicates that the APC remains the most popular party in the State,” he said.
