Some main motor parks in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, had a low turnout of passengers on Friday, which was opposite to the anticipated Easter vacation rush.
The Information Company of Nigeria visited motor parks at Iwo Street and Ojoo Bus Terminals, revealing no surge in inter-state commuting.
According to Mr Michael Adelokun, chairman of Saki Motor Park, the number of buses shifting from the park to their different locations was far from the anticipated quantity.
He stated it was apparent passengers had now been not travelling in their numbers, which was in contrast to what they used to acquire.
“Folks haven’t been popping out because of lack of cash, though we have not elevated the transportation price. A bus to Saki is priced at N3,000, whereas an automobile goes for N3,500.

“These prices have been the same for a very long time now, regardless of the unfriendly economic system,” he stated.
He is famous that the price of petrol with automobile upkeep was becoming burdensome on their enterprise earnings.
Adelokun stated the engine oil price had jumped from about N3,500 and N4,000 to N16,000.
“Similar for the price of tyres, which had elevated between N28,000 and N30,000 to N65,000.
“Because Nigerians have a basic low purchasing power, it’s troublesome to extend transport fare amid skyrocketing costs of products and providers,” he stated.
Additionally, the Secretary of the Park Administration System, Iwo Street Motor Park, Mr Isahu Salawu, stated that people stayed away from their houses because they wanted to manage their spending.
He stated that the absence of monetary energy had impacted their enterprise negatively, making festive durations look odd in the parks.
Salawu decried the excessive value of petrol and different overheads incurred within the transportation system, including the fact that regardless of all, fares didn’t improve.
“We’ve simply left the transportation fare so as not to add to the burden on passengers, as we’re all struggling with this economic system,” he stated.
Nevertheless, a passenger, Mr Tafa Alaba, stated that the fare to Iseyin had increased from N1,300 and N1,500 to N1,700.
Regardless of the slight improvement he stated was bearable, he concluded that not many individuals thought it wise to journey as they used to.
A passenger heading to Lagos for the Easter vacation, Miss Tobiloba Samuel, stated the fare of N2,500 for buses and N3,600 for automobiles rose to N3,600 and N4,100, respectively.
