The Maritime Staff Union of Nigeria mentioned it could be a part of the two-day nationwide protest organised by the Nigeria Labour Congress.
This was contained in a press release on Monday by the Head of Media, MWUN, Kennedy Ikemefuna.
Ikemefuna mentioned the transfer was vital following the directive of NLC that its affiliate members nationwide should strictly comply.
The PUNCH reported that on February 16, the NLC introduced the nationwide protest scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday over the alleged authorities’ failure to implement agreements reached between each event on October 2, 2023, following the elimination of the gasoline subsidy.

Ikechukwu mentioned, “The MWUN would be a part of the Nigeria Labour Congress’s two-day nationwide protest held on the 27-Twenty February 8 2024, as directed by the congress after its NEC-in-session assembly held on Monday, in Abuja, directing all its affiliate members throughout the nation to comply strictly.”
He added that the protest is against the federal authorities’ refusal to honour the October 2023 settlement signed with Congress.
“The congress believes that if the settlement had been honoured and applied, it could have gone a protracted option to ameliorate the sufferings and hardships of the ill-conceived and ill- ill-implemented insurance policies have introduced upon Nigerian Staff and the citizenry of the nation,” Ikechukwu mentioned.
He added that the MWUN, as an affiliate of the NLC, would adjust to the NLC directive.
