Authorities have urged motorists to make use of different routes resulting from ongoing protests in Noordgesig close to Soweto.
There’s visitors congestion on the intersection of Essential Highway and Soweto Freeway the place protesters have barricaded the roads with burning tyres.
It’s not clear what the protest is about.
Nevertheless, the Johannesburg Metro Police Division (JMPD) says the scenario is calm and officers have been dispatched.
JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla says, “Closure is inflicting heavy visitors disruptions with automobiles having to divert. Motorists are urged to train warning, keep away from and use different roads such because the N17.”
