A video has emerged revealing that the coupists in Niger Republic have begun mobilising military near its border with a neighboring country, Benin, in the face of an impending military intervention by the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS.
Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in Lake Chad, revealed the situation.
According to Foxiz Nigeria, ECOWAS has threatened military action against the Niger junta that has taken power and suspended the constitution.
ECOWAS ordered its standby force to restore constitutional order in the Republic of Niger last month.
The directive followed ECOWAS’s resolution on the Niger coup at its extraordinary summit in Abuja.
The regional bloc’s army, however, has yet to invade Niger.
On Monday, Makama shared a video on his social media platform X showing Niger’s soldiers deploying along the Beninese border in anticipation for an ECOWAS military intervention.
“Niger deploys military to the Niger-Benin border amid ECOWAS’s imminent military intervention plans,” he wrote.
Foxiz Nigeria spotted a video showing military trucks in a convoy being applauded by the public.
