The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki inaugurates 15 commissioners, urging them to sustain efforts to improve livelihoods and ensure the state’s economic prosperity.
Commissioners: Ethan Uzamere, Christopher Nehikhare, Monday Osaigbovo, Dr. Joan Osa-Oviawe, Isoken Omo, Stephen Idehenre, Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi, Patrick Uanseru, and Samuel Alli. Others include Adaze Aguele-Kalu, Kingsley Uwagbale, Uyi Oduwa Malaka, Joshua Omokhodion, Ojiefoh Enaholo Donatus, and Christabel Omo Ekwu. The governor pledged to develop the Benin Port, Enterprise Park, and other initiatives to facilitate industrial growth and improve the state’s economy during his inauguration at the Government House in Benin City. He credited his team with providing excellent guidance throughout his six-year tenure. The team has helped actualize our vision of transforming Edo State, and it’s an ongoing process.

The governor announced the creation of the “finishing team,” composed of notable individuals who will oversee the administration’s progress. He also mentioned reforms aimed at boosting economic growth, including the recent signing of an electricity bill that permits states to produce and distribute electricity within their jurisdiction. Thanks to our Ossiomo Power Plant, the state is now safe and attracting business. The governor urged the new commissioners to continue with the state’s developmental progress and focus on various sectors. He emphasized the importance of completing ongoing projects within the next 18 months.
The governor also highlighted the need for the Benin Port and Enterprise Park projects to commence, stating that 50 hectares have already been allocated to the local content board while an additional 100 hectares must be built to attract more investors to Edo State. Benin Port isn’t a scam. We’ll sign with Antwerp Port, Belgium, next month. We need to secure financing for construction before we leave. Designs and processes for projects have begun. Urgency is required.
