Capturing Stars Sports Club’s first-choice goalkeeper, Okemute Odah, expressed confidence in his team’s ability to secure victories in at least two of their remaining four away matches in the 2023/24 NPFL season. Odah, a highly experienced former player of Warri Wolves, Rivers United, and Lobi Stars FC, shared this sentiment following their 2-1 victory against Kano Pillars in a matchday 29 encounter at Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, on Monday.
“After our triumph away from home, I believe we can continue our winning streak, aiming for at least two victories in our remaining away fixtures,” said Odah, the former Al Ain of Saudi Arabia goalkeeper, in a modest tone, as Gbenga Ogunbote’s team secured maximum points after coming from behind.
The home team took an early lead through veteran Rabiu just two minutes into the game, but 3SC responded with goals from Taiye Murtala and Christian Pyagbara in the 48th minute and during stoppage time, respectively.
Odah’s optimism stems from the perceived vulnerability of their upcoming opponents, two of whom are fighting to avoid relegation. Their schedule includes facing nineteenth-placed Heartland at Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri on April 19, followed by a challenging trip to seventh-placed Katsina United on May 5. They will then visit seventeenth-placed Rivers United, who have six games in hand, on May 19, before concluding their away fixtures against fifteenth-placed Bayelsa United on June 2.
Up next for the club, currently enjoying a good run of form in the Nigerian top flight, is a home game against league leaders Lobi Stars at Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, on April 14.
