Ondo deputy governor, Lucky Ayedatiwa, denies wife assault allegations by the Society for Women Empowerment (SWE) group. Mrs Damilola Charles, the national coordinator of the group, accused the deputy governor of repeatedly assaulting his wife in front of staff and friends in Akure.
Charles claimed domestic violence is a significant civil rights issue that should apply to political leaders. However, the deputy governor denied ever physically abusing his spouse throughout their marriage. Ayedatiwa dismissed the faceless group’s baseless allegation, warning that it may cause unnecessary tension in the state.

“The allegation of domestic abuse against the deputy governor is false and an attempt by certain individuals to cause a crisis in the state. The deputy governor’s right to privacy regarding his family is respected, and it should be noted that there has never been any domestic violence between him and his wife.” Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa is currently abroad.
Mrs. Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa has lived and worked in the UK for years, commuting between there and Nigeria to care for her family. Reports of alleged domestic issues should not be believed, as they are likely created by those trying to cause trouble. Those spreading false information should stop or face consequences. It is worrying that a mysterious group with no known leader could produce such lies for the media. It’s alarming that journalists turned an unsupported lie into the news. The Governor’s Deputy has been performing official duties while the Governor was on leave.
“Claiming the Deputy Governor carried out multiple assaults on his out-of-country spouse is uncharitable and amounts to unjustified political blackmail.” The deputy governor advised disregarding the falsity as attackers may be plotting further harm.
