Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa announced the immediate dissolution of the State Executive Council on Wednesday. The decision, conveyed through a statement by the governor’s spokesman, Ebenezer Adeniyan, specified that all members of the Cabinet appointed by the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu are required to promptly hand over their responsibilities to either the Permanent Secretaries or the most senior administrative officers in their respective offices.
Governor Aiyedatiwa also took action against Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) and Special Assistants (SAs), relieving them of their duties. The directive extends to these officials, instructing them to surrender all government properties under their possession. The governor expressed gratitude to the affected officials for their services and contributions to the development of the state.
Lucky Aiyedatiwa, formerly the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, assumed the position of the substantive governor on December 27, 2023, following the unfortunate demise of Governor Akeredolu. Notably, Aiyedatiwa had faced an impeachment plot orchestrated by some of Akeredolu’s allies in the Ondo State House of Assembly during the former governor’s illness. Despite the challenges, Aiyedatiwa emerged unscathed and ultimately ascended to the role of governor.
