Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate and former governor of Lagos State, engages in a closed-door meeting with Senate Chief Whip Orji Uzor Kalu in the farmer’s Asokoro residence in Abuja.
According to sources, Kalu, a strong candidate for the Senate presidency, arrived at Tinubu’s house at precisely 5:31 pm. The former governor, dressed in white, was whisked inside immediately after getting out of his black Toyota Land Cruiser SUV and was taken to meet with Tinubu.
The APC veteran, who had been formally absent from Nigeria since March 22, arrived back in the country roughly a month prior to his May 29, 2023, inauguration. After that, they are rumored to be having a private meeting.
According to the source, Kalu thanked God for Tinubu’s smooth vacation and safe return before the private meeting.
Although the purpose of their meeting has not yet been disclosed to the media, there are strong indications that it may have something to do with the race for the Senate Presidency given that the ruling party may have zoned the Presidency to the South-East.
The visit coincides with rumors that Kalu is well-positioned to win the 10th Senate term. From 1999 until 2007, both men served as governors of their respective states, and they had been together for more than 30 years. Unlike Orji Uzor Kalu, who currently represents the Abia North Senatorial District in the 9th Senate, Tinubu was a senator in the past.
