The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has taken into custody a pastor and two different people on suspicion of trafficking twelve youngsters. In line with Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the Command, the apprehension was made by operatives from the Speedy Response Squad 74 (RRS 74) on Friday, February ninth, 2024, round 12:55 am. The interception occurred when Muhammad Isah, a resident of Kafanchan, Kaduna, was stopped whereas driving a Toyota Hiace bus with registration quantity APP 489 XE. The automobile was discovered to be transporting twelve underage youngsters—4 boys and eight ladies—to a vacation spot later recognized as being in Ogun State.
Adeh disclosed that preliminary investigations unveiled that the youngsters, aged between 5 and 16 years outdated, hailed from Akwanga Native Authorities Space of Nasarawa State. They have been allegedly being trafficked by Pastor Simon Kado and Jesse Simon Kado, each of whom are presently in police custody. Whereas the investigation continues, efforts are being made in collaboration with the Nasarawa State Police Command to facilitate the reunion of the victims with their respective households.
The Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, emphasised that the security of residents stays the topmost precedence.
