Armed policemen have sealed off the secretariat of the All Progressive Congress in Makurdi, the capital metropolis of Benue State.
The social gathering secretariat belongs to the Austin Agada-led APC Working Committee positioned alongside JS Tarka Approach reverse the Railway Market in Makurdi.
There are two social gathering secretariats within the capital metropolis.
The opposite one belongs to Benjamin Omakolo’s crew which is positioned alongside Kashim Ibrahim Approach.
The Publicity Secretary of the Agada faction, Daniel Ihomun, stated that the sealing off of their secretariat will not be unconnected with the inauguration of members of the zoning committee for the forthcoming native authorities election.
“We’re to inaugurate members of the zoning committee for the approaching native authorities election right now at our secretariat just for the federal government to ship policemen and their thugs to seal off the secretariat,” Ihomun stated.
Our correspondent learnt that policemen and Armour Personnel Automobile have been deployed to the Agada-led workplace as early as 6am on Friday.
Efforts to get the response of the state Police Public Relations Officer, Catherine Anene, to establish the rationale for the sealing off of the social gathering secretariat weren’t profitable as her cellphone rang out on the time of submitting this report.
The Agada-led faction had constituted a 21-men zoning committee drawn from the three senatorial districts of the state and was anticipated to be inaugurated on Friday.
However in a swift response, the Omakolo-led crew had in a press release issued by its Publicity Secretary, Terseer Agber, referred to as on all social gathering members and most of the people to ignore the zoning committee constituted by the Agada-led committee.
