Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu urged the populace to support the government in achieving a bigger Lagos, saying his administration was hard at work finalizing new plans to better serve Lagos citizens.
At the 35th Synod of the Diocese of Lagos, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), which is now taking place at Our Saviour’s Church in Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos, Sanwo-Olu gave a speech.
‘The Earnest Expectations of The Sons of God’ is the topic of the event.
The governor thanked Lagos residents for choosing him for a second term in office and urged them to view any suffering they may be going through right now as minor in comparison to better things that, in his opinion, would soon start to come their way. The governor was represented by the Secretary to Lagos State Government, Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin.
The recent opening of the Blue rail line, which has improved people’s ability to move around the city in terms of transportation, is just the beginning of great things to come in the quest for a greater Lagos, he claimed, adding that his cabinet held a retreat on the subject in Epe.
The governor congratulated the newly ordained and installed Bishop of the Diocese of Lagos and President of Synod, The Rt. Rev. Ifedola Senasu Gabriel Okupevi, and charged him to use his position of spiritual authority to advance the cause of God and better Lagos State.

Okupevi commended Sanwo-Olu as a trailblazer, an inventive leader, and a reformer who is pushing Lagos to become the smartest city in Africa in his charge read to the Synod.
According to him, the governor has made steps to touch every area of human capacity development, enhanced income production of the state and recorded remarkable outcomes in infrastructural development of Lagos.
Okupevi called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to swiftly implement promised measures to cushion the agonising impacts of the oil subsidy reduction and other policies targeted at recovering the ailing economy of the country.
He bemoaned the engagement of young people in ritual activities as a result of unemployment and security issues, and he urged Tinubu to address these issues as well as the nation’s subpar electrical supply.
