United Nations chief Antonio Guterres on Monday deplored how the UN Safety Council had failed to reply adequately to the Israel-Hamas battle in Gaza and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, saying the conflicts had “maybe fatally” undermined its authority.
Talking on the opening of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Guterres mentioned the UN Safety Council typically discovered itself deadlocked and “unable to behave on probably the most important peace and safety problems with our time.”
